Tundra & I will visit your school if it is within a reasonable travel distance. During the COVID 19 pandemic, this visit occurs outdoors, preferrably in a forested area on your school grounds or nearby. If no such location, then we use your school fields & we improvise that it is a forest. Students & staff get to watch Tundra's behavior & I explain what wolves in the wild would be doing. I tell many First Nation stories & legends about the wolf & why this animal is so important to their culture. I explain the important role the wolf plays in the ecosystem as an apex predator & keystone species. Opportunity for many questions from students & staff. Cost is $100 for the walks & travel expenses to the school.

If your school is too far away, I can over a ZOOM version of this program where the same material is covered & the students & staff get to see the four wolves our centre has.

Join us in exploring the complexity of the BC coastline. Students are immersed in ideas of interconnection, ecosystems, water cycles, and shoreline wildlife, inspired by works from the City of Burnaby's Permanent Collection. Using watercolour, drawing, and collage, students develop individual mixed-media works.

All our Farm Field Trips start with an interactive and enthusiastic exploration of the farm. Get ready: We will touch soil, kiss goats, listen to the bees buzzing, pet chickens, smell horses and taste veggies right from the market gardens! So much fun!! Besides our hands-on teaching style, we love getting into juicy discussions about agricultural practices, ecosystems, food security, sustainability... Throughout the Farm Field Trip, hands-on experimentation and discussions will complete your students' learnings in Environmental and Social Sciences curriculums. 

- Fun and engaging introduction to the farm, its gardens, animals and farmers.
- Stimulating the 5 senses - experimental learning is the core of our pedagogy for all ages!
- Adapting to the age range and request, the farm educator can relate to “the bigger picture” in terms of farming technics, agro- ecosystems, food systems and/or local & global ecosystems.

Join OWL (Orphaned Wildlife) Rehabilitation Society in this unique virtual experience to learn about the amazing species of raptors that call BC home, the features and adaptations that make them unique, how they respond to their environment, and about the dangers they face and how you can help. You also get the chance to meet some of OWL’s Raptor Ambassadors up close on camera! Each program will be focused to each grade level that is participating.

Have a specific topic in mind? We are more than happy to work with you to make the program you are looking for. Some popular requests include focusing on a specific species, such as owls or just hawks, life cycles, or food chains.

This tour includes:

• a visit to our local Chinese history display and an object identification activity;

• students explore the kit "The Writing on the Wall" that details the racism and prejudice the Chinese immigrants faced at the turn of the century;

• This tour includes a workshop on Chinese Calligraphy.

Come learn about the rich and vibrant history of the Indigenous peoples of Interior British Colombia. This tour largely focuses on the Indigenous Nation on whose land we reside, the Sinixt. We will consider Sinixt artifacts and culture while also examining the effects of colonization through our internal program titled "Sinixt & Colonial Contact: A Campaign of Extinction". Our tour will also guide students through activities examining stone artifacts while thinking critically about what we can learn through examination and what information has been lost through time.

Ahh! The great outdoors! With 144 acres of ocean-front property, lush rainforest and quiet creeks, YMCA Camp Elphinstone is an ideal location for learning in the great outdoors. Located on British Columbia's beautiful Sunshine Coast, YMCA Camp Elphinstone is just two kilometres north of the Langdale Ferry Terminal and a 40-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver.

Through meaningful outdoor experiential learning, kids develop strong and healthy minds and bodies while they learn and grow with their classmates. Students are challenged outside the traditional classroom and benefit from hands-on learning as they explore the serene forests and rocky shoreline of beautiful YMCA Camp Elphinstone.

Programming is customized for each group and designed to fulfill BC Ministry of Education prescribed learning outcomes. Participants benefit from:

• Structured activities like our discovery hike or marine beach study that teach about marine wildlife or the ecosystem.
• Programming that focuses on skill development such as archery, orienteering or outdoor living skills.
• Activities like our high or low ropes courses that encourage leadership and team building.
• Water-based programming such as kayaking, canoeing and swimming.
• Games and sports with an emphasis on physical activitiy, strategy and teamwork.
• Interactive leadership sessions that focus on conflict resolution, group dynamics, public speaking and more.
